The expert opinions and other information available through this service include: - Nearest qualified recommended repair facilities - A second opinion from an ASE Certified Master Technician about the appropriateness of proposed repairs - Cost estimates for proposed repairs on automobiles or light trucks from an ASE Certified Master Technician Members can call before approving a repair and get a line-by-line assessment from an expert — reviewing your repair estimates, identifying any overcharges, and helping you push back in the event of unfair pricing.

Are there limits on how often I can call?

No. DriveClub Advantage and Elite members can call the Repair Advocate Hotline as often as they like. There is no per-call fee and no annual call limit.

What credentials do the advisors have?

Advisors hold current ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications, with years of experience in auto repair and service management.

Can the advisor tell the shop what to charge?

No. Advisors provide guidance and information to you — they don't contact the shop directly or authorize or decline repairs on your behalf. You use their analysis and expertise to negotiate confidently with the shop.

What if the shop declines to negotiate?

Your advisor can give you guidance on getting a second estimate from another shop, your consumer rights around repair estimates, and whether the repair is urgent enough to require immediate authorization. You are never obligated to approve a repair you are not comfortable with.
